Funkadelic. Everybody’s got a little light under the sun- under the sun! Everybody’s also had their hands on this track it seems as well- it has been sampled by artists like Tupac, Digital Underground and Snoop. The hit was originally written for member Bootsy Collins to perform, as evident in hearing his prevalent groovy bass lines. The track became the second song for Parliament to reach a million copies sold after “Give Up the Funk” and reached #16 on the pop charts. “Flash Light”‘s success positively impacted not only the world of funk but was also a large influence to the then, new wave of hip-hop. Personally, I cannot even fathom the wonders and glory of purchasing and holding the 1978 “Funkentelechy vs. The Placebo Syndrome” on vinyl. Jam on, shinin’ on the funk ya’ll!
