Thirsty Thursday: Sports Preview and Beer Review
ALLITERATION! Everybody hates Monday, taco Tuesday isn’t bad, Wednesday only leaves you looking forward to Thirsty Thursday (or Throwback Thursday, or both)! Well, we’re dedicated observers of both Thirsty and Throwback Thursday, so we’re giving you a preview of all the relevant sports action coming up today (because everyone needs a reasonable excuse to drink). As an added bonus, we’re going to give you some recommendations on beer to enjoy on this most special of days. Cheers!
The Blues have a chance to give the Blackhawks their first loss. The Senators/Bruins game should be physical, tons of big hits; they are also tied for 4th in the east so competition should be intense. Both Staal brothers are playing together and younger brother Jordan Staal is playing his old team the Pens, should be an interesting game.
Chicago Blackhawks vs. St. Louis Blues 8:00 P.M. ET
Ottowa Senators vs. Boston Bruins 7:00 P.M. ET
Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Carolina Panthers 7:00 P.M. ET
Some great games here, look for the Clippers Pacers game to be a good one. T-wolves are still without Kevin Love so that should be a game Lakers win if they want to keep playoff hopes alive. Bulls are trying to right a 4 game losing streak, we’ll see if they can hold off the sixers at home.
Los Angeles Clippers vs. Indiana Pacers 7:00 P.M. ET
Philadelphia 76ers vs. Chicago Bulls 8:00 P.M. ET
Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Los Angeles Lakers 10:30 P.M. ET
… and now for the beer.
I give you Uinta Brewing’s Dubhe, an Imperial black IPA worthy of high praise. Perhaps they made the beer so dark because they’re warning you of the eminent blackout, or perhaps it’s because they loaded it with dark malts and hops. Either way this beer is 9.2% ABV, I considered e-mailing them concerning warning labels for this stuff. All kidding aside Uinta brewed this beer using renewable energy and added hemp seeds to send a message and I’m picking up what they’re putting down. Not only is this beer delicious, but it’s made in a sustainable fashion with premium ingredients. If you’re not familiar with International Bitterness units (IBU) it tells you a great deal about how hoppy and how potent your beer is going to be. This beer is a 109 on the IBU scale, compared to 12 IBU for Budweiser, 20 for Heineken, 35 for Sierra Nevada and so on. That’s crazy potency and it makes for the perfect palate wrecker for your Thirsty Thursday.
We give the Dubhe: 9.4/10
