Brew Review: Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye IPA
First of all, I’d like to admit that I’m partial to rye beers. There is something about rye grain that melds wonderfully with beer. This Sierra Nevada seasonal brew is no exception. It pours a deep red with an airy head. On the nose are hints of fig and… hops (what else would you expect from Sierra?). The nose is relatively tame compared to other other IPA’s. On first taste, the piney hops stand out then give way to slightly bready, rye aftertaste. The mouthfeel is extremely smooth and drinkable. Overall, the Ruthless Rye is a simple, quality brew from Sierra Nevada (as we’ve come to expect). I’ll be looking forward to sampling again soon.
