2014 Bentley Flying Spur
The much anticipated Bentley Flying Spur, essentially a small luxurious room that can go 200mph. Bentley is known for combining luxury and power in a special way, and this model is true to form. So back to that comment about being a luxurious room. Being essentially an extended version of the Continental GT (adding another two doors) the Flying Spur is large and in charge. Bentley did take some efforts to reduce weight, about 110 pounds, by adding some aluminum and composite parts where appropriate (hood, front fender most notably). 0-60 time is 4.3, not Bentley’s strong suit, but not terrible either.
Top Speed: 200mph
0-60: 4.3 seconds
I really like that they maintained the boxed front end with the signature Bentley grill. The subtle changes to the back end, in the shape of the headlights and the gradual slope the car ends with make it look extremely classy and yet somehow sporty. The spacious leather filled and heavily accessorized interior looks crisp and the wood veneer accentuates the leather nicely. Interestingly all of the wood is sustainably sourced so you don’t need to feel guilty about riding in such elegance… I guess?
A 616 hp w-12 drives this machine, generating 590 foot-pounds of torque. Premium speakers and amps, decadent interior trim and accessories, and a heavy engine and chassis all come together to give the flying spur a curb weight of 5,451 pounds. What’s most impressive is that they can get this hulking luxury box up to a top speed of 200mph. Like I said it’s like driving a small room. The base price is 300,000 to get your own, not unreasonable for all the amenities provided.
