What’s better than being grown-up and playing with toys? Well, controlling your own miniature submarine camcorder would be pretty cool. And having the videos sent to your iPad from over 100 feet underwater, now that’s amusing!

“Ideal for viewing marine life or inspecting a boat below the waterline, the sub is tethered to its receiver on deck with a 100′ video cable. Communicating with the receiver using Wi-Fi, an app installed onto an iPad or laptop remotely controls the sub’s electric thrust and lift propellers for forward/backward left/right, and up/down movement. A virtual dashboard (an iPad’s motion sensors can also steer the sub) includes a joystick, camera controls, and displays depth, heading, battery level, and temperature data received from the sub’s built-in sensors. Its marine-grade, hydrodynamic ABS housing provides a watertight seal to protect the included HD video camera, which captures 1280 x 720 resolution footage. Auto and manual focus control combined with the camera’s built-in timer allows you to take pictures at intervals while you steer the sub into optimal position. An array of eight adjustable-intensity LEDs illuminate underwater features. Videos are stored onto the sub’s built-in 32GB memory while still images are stored directly onto an iPad or laptop. Operates for up to two hours from a 16-hour charge of its battery.”

If you’ve got an extra $6,300 lying around you can pick one of these bad boys up from Hammacher Schlemmer’s webstore.
