#5 Oatmeal: Oatmeal contains beta-gluten, a rather unique kind of fiber. Beta-gluten has been shown to reduce cholesterol, boost immunity, and provide sustained energy throughout the day. Oatmeal is both filling and nutritious and can be prepared relatively quickly. In addition it’s inexpensive and can be eaten as a breakfast meal or snack. Each cup of oatmeal has about 300 calories, good for a busy day or if you’re trying to bulk up. Many of my friends swear by it and eat it every morning. Can’t go wrong with oatmeal.

#4 Avocado: However you go about preparing it (i’d recommend guacamole), eating Avocados regularly is great for guys. They say an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. In that case get your daily ounce of Avocado, because it’s been shown to reduce prostate cancer, the second leading killer of men (among cancers). Scientists believe some agent in the Avocado seeks out per-cancerous cells and eliminates them without harming surrounding tissues. Avocado is also good for reduction of cholesterol and prevention of heart disease, as well as improved eye health and a large dose of vitamin E. A truly well rounded health food.

#3 Almonds: It is well documented that regular consumption of almonds greatly reduces risk of heart disease. They also prevent diabetes and are rich in natural oils to keep your skin and hair looking healthy Almonds are also rich in riboflavin, and phosphorous which help promote healthy brain function and strong teeth and bones. Eating a cup of almonds a day promotes your hearts longevity and the strength of your mind and body.

#2 Guava: People tend to buy tomatoes for the lycopene, the carotenoid agent that causes red coloration in vegetables. Pink Guava actually have the highest concentration of lycopene of any plant food so if you can get your hands on them I would do it. Consume the whole fruit, which is unbelievably high in fiber and vitamin C. Really an amazing food with myriad benefits for Men.

#1 Salmon: Salmon is a delicious and nutritious oily fish  all men should have on their plate more often. Salmon contains omega-3 fatty acids that help your tissues and joints stay healthy and help to prevent heart disease and inflammation. Salmon is also rich in vitamin D and fish oil helping to promote bone and eye health. The fat present in salmon helps brain function and it is notoriously high in protein. Salmon gets our #1 but all of the foods on this list, and more should be incorporated into a diet that fits your needs. What is best for one person may not be best for another, but these healthy foods can give us some common ground.
