Brew Review: Franziskaner Hefe-Weisse Dunkel

February 05, 2013 / by / 0 Comment

This is a year-round brew from Franziskaner, one of the older and more reputable German brewers. I have to say this beer was kind of disappointing. It tasted like the word Dunkel sounds… I’ll let you just use your imagination. The mouthfeel was rich and carbonated. The beer poured a dark brown with a foamy head. It tries at a banana and clove flavor that does well enough with the texture of the beer but doesn’t stand out on its own. The beer looked good, felt good, but the taste I just wasn’t especially fond of. Definitely a solid beer but not a beer I’m going to seek out again. Franziskaner would do well to brew less of these and more of everything else.
