Questlove with Jiro

If you’re not familiar with the 2011 film Jiro Dreams of Sushi, we strongly recommend you check it out on DVD or Netflix. The movie tells the story of then 85-year-old Jiro Ono. Jiro is the world’s greatest sushi master and owner of Sukiyabashi Jiro, a Michelin three-star restaurant located in Japan. Dining will cost you $300+ per person in the small 10-seat restaurant, oh and did we mention reservations are needed around a year in advance! After seeing the film, one can truly see the craft, technique, and skill Jiro has with sushi. Drummer from the Philadelphia based rap group The Roots, Amir “Questlove” Thompson was recently in Japan for a DJ set. A fan of the movie, and fine dining (obviously no disrespect Quest!) Thompson stopped in to have dinner at the acclaimed sushi restaurant. Questlove posted several photos of himself enjoying his lavish sushi dinner on his instagram account. We can tell he enjoyed Jiro’s symphony of sushi and made friends with him as well. We acknowledge both men as masters of their craft, two unique artists showcasing their talents with sushi and music. Take a peek at Questlove’s meal and check out Jiro Dreams of Sushi if you get a chance!
